Favorite Scripture

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4 is a constant reminder that growth can and often is unpleasant, but that character and maturity come from facing various trials and learning from each one.

Questions & Answers
What were the highlights of your quizzing years?

Maintaining friendships and getting reacquainted with competitors year after year. I also helped start the water fight tradition at Nationals.

How did quizzing affect you as a teen?

It gave me a place to grow in self-confidence and succeed, and to become rooted in my faith. It laid the foundation for my love of Scripture and for my passion to ignite that same spark in other youth.

What difference has quizzing made in your life to this day?

Knowledge of Scripture has shaped my character and life choices, and allowed me to set an example and lead others in the life God desires for us.

How have you maintained involvement in quizzing?

Following graduation from high school, I coached a quiz team at the Ballard (WA) FMC from 1989-1993. I quizmastered and started writing practice materials 1994-1998, and began coaching at the Shoreline (WA) FMC in 1999. I started writing the denominational tournament questions in 2000.

How are you serving the Lord?

I'm on the leadership team for Professional Women's Fellowship, a non-denominational ministry in the Seattle area which addresses the spiritual needs of working women. I'm on the Board of Administration at the Shoreline (WA) FMC and oversee the quiz program at Shoreline.
